Advanced Driving

A number of advanced driving courses are available. We particularly promote the DIAmond Advanced Motorist Test. Candidates for this exam require thorough preparation. The exam lasts for about one hour and includes a wide variety of driving conditions in and around the bolton area, including motorways. The following special exercises are included:

  1. Turning in the road using forward and reverse gears.
  2. A reverse into a side road on the left.
  3. A reverse into a side road on the right.
  4. A reverse park or bay park.

One of the main features of the drive is making progress. The candidate is expected to complete the journey in the best possible time whilst keeping within speed limits and safety. The candidate will pass if they do not make more than 6 driving faults and avoid any serious or dangerous faults.
It is administered by the Driving Instructor's Association (DIA) and accredited by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

In addition, there is the DIAmond Special Test. This requires a significantly higher standard of competence. It lasts for 90 minutes and only 2 faults are allowed, but not the same fault repeated. It includes two 10 minute commentary drives. Again, it is administered by the Driving Instructor's Association (DIA) and accredited by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency(DVSA).
